This is an AWESOME gouache watercolor!

Whenever a painting catches my eye, it is because of the colors.  Usually, it's the vibrant, vivid colors that practically call out to me, but this painting....is so different.  Only two colors:  sienna and the white background.  The background has no color because the only most important aspect of the painting is what the two people are doing.  The style of their clothing gives the impression that the couple is out, maybe in town, not just standing outside their home.  Where they are is unclear because the painting has the look of being incomplete.  I was not only attracted to the woman's dress, and, obviously, beautiful hat, which the artist took careful time to detail the flowers, but the woman has the man's head in her mouth.  In all her elegance, this woman has grabbed hold of the man's left wrist and swallowed his entire head down to the high collar of his white shirt.  She, apparently, did this with some difficulty because her eyes are squeezed shut tightly.  Men may feel differently about the painting, but it made me smile.
