I wasn't too sure about my topic so I chose a topic similar to the experiential paper.  The topic I chose to talk about universal health care in the United States.  It is not completely narrowed down, I understand that the topic could go a couple different directions.  I was thinking the paper might be a bit persuasive toward the positive.

This would make my topic sentence more along the lines of:  The benefits of universal health insurance greatly outweigh the negatives.

Naturally, with the Internet, the websites on such a topic are overwhelming. Here are a few, I feel, will carry the most information for my topic:
- www.newrules.org/equity/rules/singlepayer-and-universal (to give examples of universal health care in action)
- www.duke.edu/~sbm/7.htm (the oppose side)
- articles.cnn.com/2009-07-06/politics/canadian health.ca (problems with Canadian health care)

If only a parent could get paid for all they do...

An interesting comparison that many parents like to inform their spoiled children of, and one that all spoiled children should consider, is the comparison of the job of a parent to the multiple jobs others get paid to do.  Beginnig at the beginning, a parent starts by developing the experience of a general education teacher without all the paperwork.  They must teach the child(ren) right and wrong, how to share, how to write, the names of things, and they take field trips.  If the child has a disability of some kind (hearing, vision, learning, physical, etc), then the parent develops the skills of a specialized teacher for the disabled (or hearing/visually impaired, handicapped, etc).  This would include a 'minor' in life skills because, regardless, of the child's disability, many parents want them to learn to adapt to their surroundings, and eventually become as independent as possible.  As the child(ren) grow, the parent's skills must as well.  Multi-tasking and organizational skills can compare a parent to hotel staff:  conceirge, telephone operator, tailor, laundress, housekeeper, and the hotel chef.  The conceirge job is included because nowadays many parents have busy schedules, and they have to schedule sleepovers, birthday parties, graduation parties, doctor/dentist appointments, and the like; in addition to giving bored pre-teens ideas of what to do somewhere else other than in the house.  A job many parents would prefer not to have is that of an EMT, emergency medical tech.  Majority of parents can do an EMT's job over an RN, registered nurse, because the EMT has basic first aid skills (slap some Neosporean and a bandaid on it and they're done), and the necessary often used, skill of accessing a wound and deciding whether or not a doctor should take care of it.  As always, and since the beginning of time (yes, Adam and Eve probably carried their children places too), the parent has been the chauffer, the accountant, and the ATM.  The most essential job that parents may not realize all of these skills, and years of experience, has entitled them to by the time their child has reached 18 is CEO/President of the whole (Your Last Name Here) Empire.  Of course ever parent is different, there are some jobs that parents cannot do, do not need to do, or simply will not do, but in the end majority of us don't mind simply being told 'I love you, Mom/Dad' because no job could pay enough in comparison to what that feels like.

Word of the Day...borborygmus

Borborygmus, you ask?  Yes, borborygmus, it is a noun, or borborygmi as a plural.  According to Dictionary.com, it is Greek originating in 1710-20.  Its full definition is "a rumbling or gurgling sound caused by the movement of gas in the intestines."  No, it is not liken to flatulence; it is hunger pains, the stomach growling.  Due to the lack of sustenance in the stomach, and only build up of air.  For some people, nausea can accompany borborygmus, a headache, lightheaded, or flatulence.  An easy cure for most people is to simply eat something nutritious that will sustain the body for at least four hours.  I hear tell, from other medical terms sites, that excessive borborygmi would indicate a problem, as would none existent borborygmus.  Because the intestines are in constant motion downward, there is always "bowel sounds", thus to have none would mean a problem exists and to have extremely loud noises emanating from the region of the abdomen would mean other issues.  There doesn't seem to be a real story behind this strange word, except that it has been accused of being "related to...the French borborgyme", according to WorldWideWords.org.  Borborygmic, its adjective form, has been spotted in the literary world describing noising plumbing and radiators in books by Vladimir Nabokov and E Fenwik.

This is an AWESOME gouache watercolor!

Whenever a painting catches my eye, it is because of the colors.  Usually, it's the vibrant, vivid colors that practically call out to me, but this painting....is so different.  Only two colors:  sienna and the white background.  The background has no color because the only most important aspect of the painting is what the two people are doing.  The style of their clothing gives the impression that the couple is out, maybe in town, not just standing outside their home.  Where they are is unclear because the painting has the look of being incomplete.  I was not only attracted to the woman's dress, and, obviously, beautiful hat, which the artist took careful time to detail the flowers, but the woman has the man's head in her mouth.  In all her elegance, this woman has grabbed hold of the man's left wrist and swallowed his entire head down to the high collar of his white shirt.  She, apparently, did this with some difficulty because her eyes are squeezed shut tightly.  Men may feel differently about the painting, but it made me smile.

Blogs I checked out...

http://www.tableforone.info/
I liked the look of this blog, the background didn't clash with all that was going on in the blog.  I enjoyed the variety of articles, and they varied from dating to Black history to current events.  It will definitely be a blog I will go back to.  There was nothing I didn't like.

http://blogs.blackvoices.com/
This is a site full of blogs. I can't say FOR SURE that they are all by Black authors, but that's what it says.  I like the way the site opens with all the different types of blogs available, but also has a list of their bloggers in case people have favorites.  They also have ads that pertain to mostly Black people, and on the bottom a row of general current events such as tax time, the upcoming Golden Globes, and that Beiber kid.  I will be going back to that site, also.

http://blackhaircareblog.com/
Since I wear my hair naturally, I had to find a natural hair care site.  I was excited just looking at the different blog excerpts:  'Benefits of Extra Virgin Olive Oil', 'Tips for Controlling Dandruff', and one where someone is stressed about making that processed to natural transition (so many people have asked me about it, I could use some more information).  I like the way it looks and the colors used.  All the blog sites have given me ideas of how I would like my blog to look!
